Biography
Paul Milgrom is the Shirley and Leonard Ely professor of Humanities and Sciences in the Department of Economics at Stanford University and professor, by courtesy, at both the Department of Management Science and Engineering and the Graduate School of Business. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy Arts and Sciences, and winner of the 2008 Nemmers Prize in Economics, the 2012 BBVA Frontiers of Knowledge award, and the 2017 CME-MSRI prize in Innovative Quantitati Applications, and the 2018 Carty Award for the Advancement of Sciences from the National Academy of Sciences. He is also the 2020 Nobel Laureate in Economic Sciences. Prof. Milgrom is best known for his contributions to the microeconomic theory and his pioneering innovations in the practical design of multi-item auctions.
